Summer Evening

ArtEzan Poetry Challenge II, "If On This Summer Evening"

If on this summer evening
I should forget
to remember you
Moths will meet under the street light
A dog will bark just to hear a reply
A mother will call her children to bed
A screen door will slam shut far away
If on this dark summer evening
I should forget
to remember you.

I love this poem, Debi. So funny that your picture is almost like mine. We are kin :)

I like that - with the unexpected message that the world will carry on around us even if we forget our loved ones - subtle.
Interesting how many people think of the evening and reminiscence, I suppose it was Fawzan's clever 'If' - Funny about the pic, I almost thought it was the same one at first, colours so similar, but view completely different.
