Golden Hour

Not sure, but I think this is some kind yarrow?

The days are growing shorter, the world is turning more yellow bit by bit, and it's getting hard to recall the scorching heat.

I first heard the phrase, "the golden hour" from my mother when I was growing up. She was a keen photographer then, among many other talents, and she spoke of enjoying the light during that short hour of the end of day. These roadside yellow flowers almost glowed in that golden hour.

That photograph says it all about what this time of year is all about. Even for me living here in the Netherlands. It's the light, the Golden Hour!

One of my best Golden Hour memories is of going to Bitter Lakes with my mom. That day was amazing, the sky was so colorful and reflecting in the lake. I took pictures and of course was disappointed because the colors were not the same, they never are.

Oops..was I too late? I was going to comment on the artwork and now it's gone. I remember your beautiful rendering of your Mom, loved the sodt and strong lines. You captured the sweetness and depth of Bobbie's character. Lucky that you have each other. I loved the 2nd portrait, very 70's and I adored your smile with the flying birds. This is one of my absolute favorites. There were a couple of pastels I think and I remember that you chose a very unique angle to them, there was a very strong portrait forcefully drawn, and the last one I remember is the haunting track image.

Having and maintaining a drawing/painting/mixed media blog is tough for many reasons. One of the hardest things is to actually maintain a portfolio and keep working almost everyday at it (as if there are no other jobs!!) and then scanning the work which may or may not turn out the way you intend it to and so much more time-consuming stuff!

I had a question though: do you also paint (and I am not talking about the blue walls here) on top of everything else you do??! Wow!!
