Night hunter
Praying mantis
The porch light not only brings out moths, but tonight it also brought out this guy, who was none too happy with my camera up in his face. He attacked it after this picture was taken.
They aren't poisonous to humans, right?

Oh my gosh!! Hannah said. She caught one of these and she said it bit her. No sign of a bite but it spooked her a little. I just love your up close photos. I need to figure it out.
We miss you all!!
Right, not poisonous, but very good hunters. It is spooky the way they actually turn their heads, like in the photo and look at YOU!
Wow - what a great photo, is it a boy?
how would we know?
I do envy you your ability to take such clear and lovely close-up pictures with no sign of wobble or fuzz.
They're only poisonous to digital cameras, so if yours starts sprouting antennaes and spindly legs, RUN!
As always, stunning image... Debi, you add a deeper dimension to my life. Such serenity in your art, such love of life. I can't help but take a step back and regain a bit of perspective when I see what you see.
After talking with you about the praying mantis, I had one outside my kitchen window watching me do dishes. Very creepy.
Freaky but hey, gotta give her some credit: I will never forget the day when our science teacher at school told us what the "mante religieuse" does to her husband after mating..wonder if it was true. Great close up!
