A Brand New Day

I watched Obama's acceptance speech last night -- twice -- and was uncharacterstically moved. I feel hopeful and encouraged today. After such a long, exclusive, aloof leadership, I feel hopeful with our new leader. May God bless him on his arduous journey.

Now let's get out there and continue to make a difference.

I don't mind the occasional anonymous commenter on my blog about my photos, but I have always been uneasy with it. Anonymous posting can lead to false courage and hard feelings.

so are we. I didn't dare hope for this great outcome. So glad you have a president who may finally make a difference to the world and who reflects honour on the USA - in a multiplicity of ways. Congratulations and well done America!

Historic. There were pictures of Jesse Jackson crying on our news, and also a girl who had helped a 101 year old black woman vote. I bet she never thought she would see the day.

Also moving to see Obama's black grandmother in her Kenyan village.

Does everyone forget that Obama is only 1/2 black? He is also 1/2 white. Not that it makes a difference, but I think it would be nice if he acknowledged that part of his heritage, too. I didn't vote for him, not because he is "black", but because of his inexperience in both the political and management fields.

I agree with anonymous above. However, now that he's been elected as our next president, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. I do hope that he can make lemonade out of all the lemons he talked about during his campaign. Only in America do people get taken by a lawyer and a politician. Is he black, is he white, is he Christian, is he Muslim, who on earth knows. Again, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt but may God have mercy upon us if he encourages the giving of handouts in the form of welfare to those who are "milking the system", using the tax money of hard working people. If he backs off the gay marriages and abortion stand and comes closer to the middle from his far left position, I could say our morally deteriorating nation might have a chance to be what it once was, a moral nation, one nation under God. It is not what is said but what is accomplished that counts. Last time people wanted to vote for the other guy because they didn't like the one in office and what he had done. Same happened here. Can't keep doing this and claim to be the greatest nation in the world where we vote based on emotion and gender and color rather than on the issues that can shape our nation and our destiny. Time will tell how it all works out. Sometimes, it takes the rude awakening of reality for people to see the results of their actions, whether they regret their vote or regret not having voted for him.
