Sandhills along Ranch Road 1601
South of Penwell, Texas
This is a rare stretch of public road these days that goes a few miles without an electric pole in sight. Even better that it is also along an extra beautiful vista of scenery, these sandhills. It has become a new favorite photo sweet spot for best friend Donna and me. (She should be posting her photos of that area soon.)
It's interesting to get to know a place first during winter. You see its bone structure clearly. I've also found a couple of plants that I have no idea what are, nor any really good way to identify them without their blooms or leaves or other green parts. Rather than being disappointed by that, I am enjoying the pleasure of waiting for spring when all will be revealed.

You make me want to drive West....
Impressionistic. You can't actually see the sunset, but see the rosy glow it casts on the grasses.
I would also like to drive West in the sunset!

You are really taking off with the next stage of your photography. It is amazing to me how you make these "giant leaps" all at once. The sunlight touches the earth almost like frosting on a cake. Lovely!

This is a gorgeous photo, a simply serene and tranquil blacktop.
That color is unreal. And the way the shot is composed is so good too, "The Rule of Thirds" is in effect but not in an obvious way. Its mesmerizing.
