Buffalo Gourd blossoms
Blossoms of the buffalo gourd, Cucurbita foetidissima
West Odessa, Texas
Such a pretty thing, but like its Latin name indicates, it does stink! (Reminds me of B.O.) The gourd these blossoms produce is about the size of a baseball. It doesn't seem to have as hard a shell as other gourds and so I admire those artisans that have the delicate touch to make decorations from them. Grows wild all over West Texas.

You do have the most amazing things grow wild all over Texas, do you happen to have a spare Texas Ranger over there?
I know they stink but still there is something that fascinates one about the "gorg". lol!
