The Philosophy of Fifty
Debi, September 29, 2007
Today is my fiftieth birthday.
This is a self-portrait of me, taken a couple of years ago. I like it a lot. I was completely alone when I took it, driving to meet Donna some where. I felt inexplicably good that day. I remember I was listening to cds of Bjork and Poe on the way. Those girls and I were jamming. The blue sky was full of mare's tails, and these wild flowers, wild buckwheat -- very late bloomers -- were everywhere, driving me mad with joy.
If I had any wisdom gained in my fifty years, I'd sum it up this way: Sometimes, life is just good. Be sure to notice.
Take pictures.

Oh yeah, love the picture.
Amen to that.
Happy Birthday and keep taking those self portraits. It's great.
