Summer rain

Quick summer rain

We have had one of the rainiest years I ever recall. Yesterday...
  • A sudden downpour while the sun was still shining
  • A rainbow above my head
  • We have had a zillion of these little spade foot toads came to life this summer
  • A raindrop hanging from a branch of my mulberry tree
  • The rain didn't stop the Gulf Fritillary caterpillars from eating
  • An extreme closeup of the red bugs we get out here after a rain -- we call them "rain bugs" but I have no idea what they are. They are also known as "velvet mites" as per Midland's Sibley Nature Center site.

You are now the best thing in our house. The kids are sitting here in amazement. They want to come to your house and see that red spider thingy!! The rain drop picture, "that is so awesome Mom, we have to go to her house!" LOL. Thank you for making our day!! We are searching the internet right now to figure out those red bud/spider things are.

Any idea how many inches you guys have received this summer? Must be more than us, surely. It hasn't rained much at all here.

Thank you all for the nice comments about these pictures. I had a lot of fun taking them, too.

We've had an enormous -- enormous for us, that is -- amount of rain this year. We are almost at 14 inches for the year. That exceeds our normal ANNUAL rainfall. We should be at around 6 inches this time of year, and last year we were barely above 4 at this same date.

You won't hear any complaints from me. I love, love, love the rain.
