Still life with limes

And here's a still life with the same light box. Next time I want to try a different backgound -- nicely draped material would be lovely I bet. For a light source I used a little reading lamp with a CFL light bulb. The light source wasn't as intense as I would have liked, so I have to confess I bought some regular bulbs to try for next time.

wowie that is a really cool still life.
I think you might find the box a good way to light things for painting as well as for photography. The light is so controlled, it's BRILLIANT

Clean, clear and freshing, like the juice of a lime.

Sorry, refreshing. Astringency in the clear shapes.

I love your still life's, Debi. I think I see a little of your grandmother here, but a modern version :)

Frances: You are right, it would be interesting to see a painting in the box. Currently I scan them, but that distorts too.

Bev: I love your description "astringency in the clear shapes." You have such a unique way of looking at things around you.

Mom: Funny you should mention Grandma. I certainly thought of her and you while I was doing the still lifes. Truly, when I do any painting, I think of you two.

Don't you think changing it to a fabric would change the lighting? You would definitely need a brighter bulb. I like the style you are currently using, it's nice and clean. what are you using as the back drop? Is it paper or fabric?

Audrey, the backdrop is rice paper on a roll that I picked up from a garage sale. :) I'm looking forward to seeing what fabric might do to the light and that brighter bulb I bought, too. Like you, I like the clean look of these.
