Orange and Pink

Endless Horizons, Andrews Highway, Odessa, Texas

Orange and Pink was a coincidental theme for "Brash" at the 2 Things Challenge. Here's a belated second entry for "Brash." Hopefully this is the last of orange and pink for a while!

Endless Horizons used to be a record and "head" shop. It's been ages since I've been inside -- but in my college days it was where I shopped for records. And nothing else. I swear.

Don't you love these murals of the past? They have an endearing quality, part kitsch part optimist. Did one of the store "clients" paid his/her dues by painting this mural? Teehee. You ought to come down to Austin and see the paintings on "the drag" (the university main street) :)...BTW, say hi to Bobbie, hope her computer will be working properly soon.

Dear me, not more pink and orange! Works quite well in this sunset though, as it does in sunsets everywhere, somehow. Just underlines the point that nature can get away with these things.

I'm sorry, I don't know what the term "head" means. Must be pretty bad, judging by your closing sentences....lol

Hi Debi,

This is a cool photo! Very appropriate for a head shop (not denying I know what that means).

I like that you have these things around you to photograph! We have a couple of murals in Greenfield.

It would have been okay if you had shopped there for other things too, Debi. The mural is fantastic and it must have been a great store. I don't think we have an equally great head shop around here. The Blue Moon Shop around the corner just closed. I guess Eduard and I didn't go there often enough to make it worth their while, teehee!

Cool Mural, I love text with images. Thankyou for sharing the history too, adds a lot of interest for a web tourist like myself. If I'd been left guess I may have said tobacco shop (sort of close) or 2nd hand shop!(Op shop as I call them) Don't know why they came to mind!

I remember this old (now) shop. The mural looks just a fresh today.

Neda, I will come down to Austin sometime and will make sure I have all my camera batteries charged up. It's a great little town with a great drag. Once while there I bought a "fresh baked poem" from a street vendor on the drag, 6th Street is it? A favorite memory of mine.

Bev, I don't know if it's bad, per se, but it will get you into trouble around here. Head shops used to be places to buy supplies for your "wacky tobacky."

Diane, sometime if you are ever in the mood to photograph, it would be fun to see the murals you have there.

Irene, Irene, Irene, it is so nice to see your sweet face here again. And of course the lady from The Netherlands would be the one in the peanut gallery!

Lisa, I guess I'm showing my age when I say I would rather it was an "Op Shop" now! ha

Mom, I think I need to post this again sometime. Turns out it used to be Tommy's Drive In in the 50s and where all the rebel Rock n Rollers hung out. If only those walls could talk.
