Virginia Creeper

Virginia Creeper (Parthenocissus quinquefolia), Odessa, Texas

More fall colors that I love and crave! A quick Google search reveals that Virginia Creeper will grow pretty much all over the world, including this shady little spot at the Master Gardeners plot at the local recycle center. Pretty plant, most especially in the fall.

Iridescent, luminous colours. Amazing how many different colours a leaf on a single plant can be! Here, perfectly set off by the white wall.

Oh that is funny! We are on different sides of the world and in different seasons (summer here) and we both photograph leaves because of their yummy colours! I love the star formations made by some of these leaf clusters and the way they look so delicate, almost lace like spreading across the wall.
Happy snapping!

Hi Debi,

I adore this photo! The colors and the delicacy are incredible!! I like your other photos too, but this is little a little magic world!

I had trouble finding your brash and luster photo ... but I found this instead!

Thanks everyone for your comments. I'm glad you liked this one. It is one of my favorites as well. I could look at those leaves -- so many colors, sizes, and vine-y meanderings -- for a long time. It does look like magic could happen in there, doesn't it?

I love this picture, so well balanced with clean lines and colors. Just the beauty showing. And the botanical name Parthenocissus quinquefolia. I think the quinque means five/folia leafed. But what does Parthenocissus mean? Anyone know of a good cross reference? I tried the california one you sent me but it does not contain this word.
