Knowing Grass #1 or #2

"Knowing Grass #1"

"Knowing Grass # 2"
West Odessa, Texas

I'm goofy for grass and weeds. Maybe with so few trees, a person is more alert toward vertical companions. Or maybe it's just love for the botanical underdog.
Knowing trees, I understand the meaning of patience. Knowing grass, I can appreciate persistence. -- Hal Borland

P.S. I will comment on the comment section of yesterday, but wanted to be sure to say thank you here, front and center. I appreciate your votes always, and I especially appreciated your encouragements and suggestions for whatever comes next. Good food for thought.

I'm learning more about what I like also. I thought I'd like #2 because I love closeups because of being somewhat near sighted, but find myself liking #1 instead. The grass looks like fern fiddleheads they way it curves around and It movement it implies is wonderful.

p.s. The interactive part of This or That creates an urge to comment and participate and so it is a wonderful way to get feedback and interact with your viewers.

#1, I like the graceful curving forms and the space around the plants.

#2 for the colors.

I like No. 1 best. All the grasses are different, even though they are the same species. A bit like kids really, it depends what has happened to them on the way.

I love my little tours of the Texas landscapes. This first photo is seriously intriquing. I like the barreness behind the subject. A straight line of flat landscape...but I also love the colours and detail of number 2. Number 2 has my vote because I want to pick that grass!
FTR: Usually the photo that gets my vote is because of it's subject...your photo's are equally good on a technical basis!

ooooh i like them both almost equally as well, and while i think #2 has more oomph cuz of the colors, im going for #1 cuz i love the spirally qualities of the grasses. i want to get up close to them and look further. they have my attention and curiousity.

Number 1 because of the horizon. I like the movement in both. Number 1 - I also saw the fiddleheads. There is a uncommon grace there.

I prefer number 2, as I think number 1 is too regimented, It would bother me looking at it after a long while. I like the loseness of number 2. It;s more frivolous and playful.

I remember reading somewhere that it was really the grasslands that made the homosapians stand up on their hind legs! Yay grass. Can you imagine what we would be like if we were still on all four!

Anyway, my choice is #2. The colour contrast is excellent and really vibrates.

My eye is drawn to #2, but mostly because the colors are so vibrant. But I think I have to vote for #1 simply because the "weed"(??) have a more ethereal quality that makes me think there's something timeless going on there. Sort of like seeing that old quill pen on grandma's roll-top desk...

Thank you everyone for your votes.

And thank heaven that D.C. came to weigh in. Else it would have been a tie. That always surprises and delights me! Just by a D.C. nose it is #1.

#2. I like the greater contrast between the colours. The general but not rigid diagonal direction of the stems makes me think of reaching out.
