Song of the Day

Ain't Got No...I Got Life

I didn't realize I could rejoice because I got my boobies and my liver! Crazy. How did I completely miss the masterful Nina Simone (1933-2003) on my radar before now?

Thank you for turning me on to her, Mr. K.

And to GodInLA, I submit this as a long-distance dedication to you today.

This song is from Hair - at least it was on the original off Broadway production - an album that I took out of the Library and loved. I know the Broadway version a lot less well - off Broadway is much sweeter, but less talented performers.

Aren't we lucky with our livers at our ages LOL
I remember hearing this the first time and being amazed - it was a huge hit in UK and Europe.

A survivor's song, and a hymn to life. Boobies and liver, what more do you want? Drink, feeding your precious children and the other one... Enjoyed listening to this.

Thank you for reminding me that I indeed do have my tongue and chin. Though I did bite my tongue today and the skin on my chin is peeling a bit.

Awed at being the recipient of a dedication.

I haven't been able to get this song out of my head...It reminds me so much of the time of civil strife in this country. It also reminds me that we have much to be grateful for. Now, thanks to youtube I can play it all day if I want. hehe.

I'm so glad you enjoyed this, Mom. I found it inspirational too. And I also found myself humming it.

John, I can't believe this, but I have never seen Hair. We moved around a lot when I was a kid and it's interesting things I missed. I did, though somehow, see and LOVE Jesus Christ Superstar.

Diane and Frances and Kris and Bev, ladies I am glad we all got our boobies and liver. Really, it is a blessing.

GodInLa, I'm glad you saw this post. And sorry about the tongue bite. I hate it when that happens.

You're welcome, Debi.

I never knew too much about her before this week either but now I can't stop listening to this and Sinnerman, also on You Tube.
