Master Gardener's Demonstration Garden

Red clover, Trifolium pratense
Permian Basin Master Gardener's Demonstration Compost Garden
at the Time Machine Recycle Center
Odessa, Texas

I am grateful to the folks with the Master Gardener program here that install these gardens for every one to enjoy and to be inspired by well-adapted and native plants.

You're very lucky to be near such a garden. Here in the Netherlands you see more and more areas that are being left wild and wildflowers grow there for 3 seasons. A little bit of cultivation is done, but not much, just enough to encourage things along.

Not crimson clover as we thought it might be. Crimson is more elongated, but about the same color. I think this clover may be better suited to your clime, but in any case I will save seed for you next year.

I was fortunate to go to the CAF yesterday to see the gardens there that are maintained by the Master Gardeners, one of which a friend of mine tends to. The gardens are beautiful this time of year. You would enjoy visiting there and there are plenty of photo ops there. Of course,I didn't think to take my camera along.

Your picture of the crimson clover is great!

We are also getting more grass verges left to the wild to encourage wild flowers. They do mow round them though, to show that it is intentional neglect lol

I really like the red colour of these, a sort of burgundy red.

I misread Bobbie's comment and was surprised it wasn't a clover - what a dork I am! Removed my comment in order not to seem so confused... Hahaha
Gorgeous rich colour.
