My favorite bird
Yesterday, while out for a walk, I heard a song that is almost as familiar to me as my own mother's voice. When I looked up, I saw this fellow surveying his domain from the tops of the not-yet-budded-out Western Soapberry trees.
For me, the cactus wren's call is the sound of spending time outdoors in the warm weather in the American Southwest. (Campylorhynchus brunneicapillus) You can hear its song at Animal Diversity Web.

Surprisingly the sound didn't bring back any memories. It sounded very 'creepy wooded area' to me. =P
