Acrea moth

Estigmene acrea

I haven't seen all that many of these moths in my lifetime, but when I do I am always struck how it looks like she is wearing a coat fit for a Snow Queen. And look, she is wearing black and white striped gloves. ;)

I don't think I have ever seen such a moth! It is beautiful, and yes, even regal! Wonderful picture!

Debi, you have a great imagination!
She does look like she is wearing the snow queen's coat, even down to the fur ruff, which looks like it has been made out of the finest fur.

Again you have me marvelling at the exotic wildwife you have over there. Would certainly scare our little English Brown Moths.

Sorry, I don't know why I put wildwife. Maybe because I just had a row with Mark, a Freudian slip. I meant wildlife.

Also, it is amazing to get such closeups without the moths flying away. You must be quick LOL

I thought it wa a bit of furry animal hanging in the tree, some exotic bit of hermeline or something, the stuff the queen has on her robe.

Wow, she is very pretty. At least I hope it is a she.

Was that photo taken here? In West Texas? ha.

You are a poet with a camera instead of a pen. Well, with a pen too - but you see objects of beauty through your lense that few mortals have enough sensitivity to even notice. Awesome. I immediately thought of a tasteful Audrey Beardsley, or some fashion plate from the 20s.

What a wonderful photograph and story behind it. It does look like an ermine coat with a ruff, and striped gloves to match!*/=Conagher practicing his keyboarding!
