After much consideration, and looking through my photos, and thinking of photos I could take, I decided this recent picture best depicts for me this week's 2 Things Challenge of "hold" and "value."
As regular readers know, this is my friend Donna, who recently had one of her photos featured in an International Photography exhibition called "High and Dry." This is her with her photo, "Jack."
What you might not know is that our friendship goes back a long way, to our youthful college days. You might not know that we went missing from each other's lives for a long stretch. I'm figuring you do have an idea, though, how much we mean to each other since reuniting* without my getting all mushy here.
I thought we were just "two old birds," but Donna calls us "secondhand lions." Together we are becoming Cates and Chafin and have made some special photography plans for 2008.
*Double-checking my diary just now, I am dumbfounded. Today, quite coincidentally, is one year since we first reunited! I guess this is the perfect entry for Hold / Value, afterall.

I LOVE this photo of Donna, she looks like the renowned photographer we knew she was. He photo of "Jack" is incredible and she has much stored potential that is beginning to be known.
Wow she is one lucky lady having a friend like you. Good that you were able to show her that you hold her in high value through this post!
What great photos (both the one of Donna and the one she has on display), what great friends, and what an honor for Donna! I'm impressed with all.

You're very lucky to have such a world class friend. They are the best to have and to hold and I am sure she is equally happy with you. I have some friends that I have known forever and although we don't see each other, the ties bind us forever. We are like Mutt and Jeff and peanut butter and jelly.
Debi, thank you so much fo ryour kinds words - I wil come back oftenb and vote. I have enjoyed photography for years - Steichen, Weston, Walker Evans, Minor White, Adams, Siskind. Most of my work was in color and tow dimensional - walls, floors, staircases, use of long lenses to subdue depth.
I have spent some wonderful days birding in Texas - near Dallas, Houston, Aeransas and down by the Rio Grande.
My last spedding ticket was in Texas, going back to Houston from Brownsville. Middle of nowhere, going 65 in a 55 zone speed trap. Thats when I started kicking in Texan TVs.,..
Amazing... I find her patience amazing!! Beautiful photos and I can hardly wait to see what you two have instore for us in 2008. :)(Like how I just know you two are doing whatever it is for US, your biggest fans... I can see my house adorned with D & D photos.)
Debi: What a wonderful tribute to a friend! And what a great selection for this week's challenge. Here's to Cates and Chafin in '08!
You should hold and value your friends, especially ones like these. I love the picture of 'Jack', poised and still but with a huge potential energy, ready to spring away. A coiled spring of a photo!
I echo everyone's sentiment here.
